We’re back in New York and ready to restart our comments on theater, food and anything else we come up with. To make it a little easier to follow us this year, we’re going to use a pair of blogs instead of just Facebook status updates. You can find the blogs at:
All of our posts will remain on the blog so you can look at older ones, too. 

Each time one of us posts, the new post will pop up on our Facebook page within an hour or so. Alternatively, you can go to one or both of the blogs and use the “Subscribe” button to give us your email address. Once a day, you’ll receive an email with anything we’ve posted that day. If there aren’t any new posts, you won’t receive an email. 

We’re still working on streamlining this process so let us know if something doesn’t work.

I am going to try again

I know I am getting behind on updates but three times now I have gotten dropped off the network after spending close to a half hour typing.  So I don’t trust this thing to let me finish and hit publish.  Going to give it another try and go back to Wednesday. We ventured over to BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) to see Long Days Journey Into Night with Jeremy Irons (for those who are not theatre nerds think Scar in Lion King that’s Jeremy Irons) and Lesley Manville.  I wasn’t aware of her before but I sure am now.  We had actually seen this particular Eugene O’Neill play years ago in DC at the National Theatre with Jack Lemmon, Bethel Leslie, Kevin Spacey, and Peter Gallagher.   My brother had come to DC with his oldest daughter to visit us and I got tickets thinking they would be so excited.  Well Angie had just graduated high school had no idea who Jack Lemmon even was and found it boring.  However, I bet now she knows who Kevin Spacey is but I also bet...

Angels in America

I can just see in my head Dave Steakley and Abe Reybold saying to themselves “well that’s not a surprise”.   I didn’t like Angels in America... Made me angry that we put so many people through this horrible disease before anyone would take it seriously and fight back.  How many amazing human beings died before someone like Elizabeth Taylor put a stake in the ground and said Enough.  Why can’t we have empathy for our fellow humans.   I didn’t like that it was loud with actors screaming at each other.  It was dark and scary.  I know Broadway is crazy about the Angel.  I thought she was awkward and ugly.  Scene changes were disturbing because they had the crew dressed in black camo and instead of walking out to move a prop they slithered around looking snakelike and evil.  There was one woman actor who played the parts of Ethel Rosenberg and a mother as well as a rabbi and a Russian general.  When she was female I liked her very much but wh...
