NYC again
Sent a picture on Monday of my favorite NYC building that was suppose to also have verbage with it. Tried typing it twice but every time I got to a certain spot it wouldn’t let me go any further so I guess I have to use this blog thing Marc set up. Of course I could just spare you all my old lady opinion about what people wear to travel but I am still thinking about it 3 days later so I am going to have my say. I understand comfort and travel. However, I do have to wonder how grown men can look at themselves and think flannel pj bottoms are okay. One on our flight in same with a faded t shirt and a faded green hoodie and flannel pjs with pickup trucks all over them. For all I know he could have been a successful entertainer because he could afford first class. The other fella had on short flannel pjs with cartoon dogs on them. We had an hour delay in the flight so I just sat there people watching and I think personal pride is on the slide.
I don’t know maybe I am wrong but I think sloppy appearance can lead to unimpressive behavior. When people don’t care how they look they probably also don’t care how they act. And for Petes sake when you are in a public place like an airport where there are people with children who by some chance haven’t yet heard what seems to be the favorite four letter word beginning with F watch your language. Enough said.
The chocolate/white cookies from a deli a half a block from the apartment were calling out to me upon arrival so we had deli food for dinner. They are going to change our apartment on Thursday for the rest of the stay so can’t order a grocery delivery till we have a permanent spot.
Last night we went over to have dinner at Club 54 and see Linda Eder. First saw her at the Long Center years ago...liked her then...like her now. Voice not quite as strong but still very pleasant. You share tables there so we met a nice French couple who are here for a week and discovered we will see them again tomorrow night because we both have tickets to Long Days Journey.
Walking over to Club 54 noticed something I have never seen here before which was an Asian woman sitting on the ground holding a 3 to 6 month old baby and panhandling I don’t even care whether it’s a sham or not how can you just walk by. I can’t even pass by the ones with dogs let alone a baby. How desperate must she be.
Tonight we saw Mean Girls. It was enjoyable but I
don’t get the hype. Technically the use of the rear view projection or whatever that is was very impressive. That equipment costs a lot of money but it does save scenery costs and the efforts to move sets around. Some really good voices and I understand the Tony actor nominations but the story is old and the music is mostly forgettable. Unlike Once on this Island I have no desire to see it again. I will, however, be looking for at least 4 of the actors names in the future as people to follow. Interesting dance numbers with cafeteria trays...interesting and fraught with the possibility of a disaster if the timing isn’t perfect,
Entertaining but not OMG,
